Bollywood actor Govinda’s wife, Sunita, is known for her outspoken nature. She has been the backbone of the actor’s career and has been his support ever since they began dating each other. Recently, Sunita shared how difficult it was to handle Govinda’s finances, particularly when dealing with deceitful producers.
In a conversation with Hauterrfly, Sunita shared that she used to manage his work and make sure that he got his due. Furthermore, she also revealed that producers would exploit Govinda and often withhold his payments, despite him delivering hits and showing dedication.
She then added, “I used to look after Govinda’s work. Being a manager, I have seen people not giving him money, and Govinda would say, ‘Jaane do uska show think nahi gay hoga… (let it go, maybe his show wasn’t a success)’.”
Recalling how she wouldn’t let things go easily, Sunita stated, “When confronted with such situations, she would retaliate, saying, ‘Why so? ‘You danced! Didn’t you? You worked hard! Woh tumhe bewakoof bana raha hai, mujhe pata chal raha hai’ (He’s fooling you, and I’m aware of it).”
Describing Govinda as a kind-hearted and trusting person, she said producers would take advantage of his good nature and make excuses for non-payment. She then added, “Chichi bhaiya, tickets didn’t get sold. I’ll give you your Rs 20-25 lakh later,” they would say. But Sunita wouldn’t have any of it. She would call them out, saying, “Kisko ullu bana raha hai? (Who are you trying to fool?) I was there, standing and seeing, I saw the show was full house.”
Further, Sunita also revealed that due to her no-nonsense attitude, she was perceived as the “bad person” in the industry and stated, “I didn’t bother if they cursed me. I would stand in their face and get his dues. I’d ask Govinda to do his job and dance, and leave everything else to me.”
One of the most successful Bollywood heroes, Govinda, was last seen in the 2019 film Rangeela Raja. He was recently admitted to the hospital after accidentally shooting his leg with his licensed revolver.
